Cyberbully The Movie || My Opinions

Hello lovelies,
This is a rather serious post so you best get a cuppa and brace yourself, we are about to get deep. I was reading the reviews on IMDB of the movie Cyberbully; starring Emily Osment, Kay Panabaker and Meaghan Rath, the movie showcases the issues of what you say online and how it can affect the person the other side of the computer screen. The reviews were generally, well 1/10 stars and to me that is outrageous, not only were the ratings bad but the content of the reviews were enough to make my skin crawl, they mostly consisted of how the lead character Taylor Hillridge was being 'over dramatic', getting upset over 'pathetic' things and the story was 'unrealistic'.

In the last year there have been at least nine adolescent suicides related to online bullying, the majority of which have been to do with being called a 'whore' or 'ugly'. It's not easy to be a teenager in the technological era we live in, I think the main thing that people seem to forget is that whatever you say online is permanent, whereas what you say in person is ephemeral (technical term), this means it is short-lived. I have been called a 'whore' online before, for no good reason may I add, and it can really hurt, it's not something I want to hear about myself online where everyone can see it.
If an employer googles my name and Twitter this comes up:
"Duty little slut I hait it. When people buy dresses for there boobs! Basically charlotte leigh howarth . Suck my tities"
That was written the day of my prom, and the thing I found worst about it was I didn't see it until after my prom when I was googling my name to check my blog came up, the dress I wore was from the H&M January sales, it cost me £7 and I accidentally got it in a size twelve so it didn't fit me perfectly but I wasn't that fussed about prom. However I was never the type of girl who displayed themselves in a sexual manner because I had been bullied my whole life for being 'ugly' and I had eczema on my legs, so you can imagine my shock when I saw it. This was my dress:

No matter where it is done, bullying is not acceptable.
If you are being bullied you should be able to tell someone, being called 'ugly' or a 'slut' is not okay. You are allowed to be upset about things that have been said about you regardless of whether you see them as 'true' or not.
Cyber bullying is a real issue that people have taken their lives over, THINK before you Type.

  1. I'm really sorry that that horrible thing was said about you
People say 'It's only because they're jealous and struggling with insecurities of their own', but that doesn't make it okay!
Stay strong in the knowledge that they are in the wrong, and not you.

    1. Hello lovely,
Thank you so much for your kind words, I really appreciate it but don't be sorry for me, going through what I have has taught me so much and I know I am a far better, stronger person because of it! You are completely right in what you say, they are who they are and there isn't a lot I can say other than... at least I am being the bigger person by trying to help other people not tear them down!
      Following, your blog is beautiful!xxx
